If we wish to burn fedora to a chip on an arduino board, what should be the choice? Smallest possible OS with minimal features? What would be the size?

I don't know what exactly you want to do, but I think the smallest downloadable image is the netinstall iso. About 320MB.

Fedora will not run on an arduino - but there are packages for writing your code onto the arduino.

If you want a small OS, you should be looking at Puppy Linux (135 MB) http://puppylinux.org/main/Download%20Latest%20Release.htm or DSL http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ (50MB)
