I have Fedora 20. I have install mysql-community-server using MySQL Repository.

I have below 2 requirements:

  1. I want to configure MySQL to accept connection from my JDBC applications over 3306 port.
  2. I also want to install MySQL-WorkBench but I didn't find any stable package for the same.

Please assist.

You've already installed mysql, why does your question say "How to install..."? Can you please edit your question and make it more specific?

Mysql workbench isn't available in fedora , because this is a orphan package. my friends in the university use phpmyadmin for the databases and java , maybe try with my admin ? why not .

su -c 'dnf -y install phpmyadmin mcrypt'

good luck my friend !

ok thanks...I will surely try this. One more thing how to configure MySQL to accept connections from JDBC applications over port 3306. Or is this set by default. Previously I used Windows OS, it was set by default there.

@gaurav-dighe: Please ask a separate question about configuring mysql? Please read the guidelines too. :)

You can download latest version of MySQL Workbench (currently 6.0.9) from their website. Here is the link to download page.

  • Go to the download link above and select the platform as Fedora.
  • It will list available RPM packages(currently fedora 19, and fedora 20). Download the appropriate package for fedora 20(32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Once it is downloaded, you can install it using the command yum -y localinstall <rpm_file>, For example,

    # yum -y localinstall /home/jomit/Downloads/mysql-workbench-community-6.0.9-1.fc20.x86_64.rpm
