Any specific development tool in mind? If so, please update your question. You can also do in command line $ yum groupinfo "C Development Tools and Libraries" or $ yum groupinfo "Development Tools" and check if what you need is there.

You can filter the list of development groups:

# yum groups list | grep -i devel
Development and Creative Workstation
C Development Tools and Libraries
Development Tools
RPM Development Tools

and then see the information about the group you are interested in, for example:

# yum groups info "RPM Development Tools"
Group: RPM Development Tools
 Group-Id: rpm-development-tools
Description: These tools include core development tools such rpmbuild.
 Mandatory Packages:
    redhat-rpm-config
    rpm-build
 Default Packages:
    koji
    mock
    rpmdevtools
 Optional Packages:
   plague-client
   pungi
   revisor
   rpmlint

To install the group:

# yum groups install "RPM Development Tools"

HTH,

Germán.

The commands are groupinfo, grouplist and groupinstall. Can you update your answer? Thanks!

The commands are right and they have tab completion, but thanks anyway!! (The commands you mention also work fine).

If anyone comes here for a similar solution using dnf, just change yum to dnf in the commands and they work just fine.

If you plan to create and build rpm packages, then you need to install development-tools.

yum install @development-tools

Read all about it here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_create_an_RPM_package#Preparing_your_system
