I have an Acer E1-522-3442 laptop which has AMD dual core processor and AMD Radeon HD 8240 graphics card.

Everything works fine except it doesn't come back from hibernate or suspend. The fans start working and one of the lights is lit but the wifi light is off. The screen is blank, so I am guessing the radeon driver doesn't resume too. What can I do?

I have this same problem. What I'd like to see in the answers are some tips on what we can try in order to get suspend/resume to work. I had it working briefly with Catalyst 13.6, but now nothing on an AMD Radeon HD 7420g.

@passthejoe That's a good news. I will try to fill a bug report on open source driver. I just need to be sure it is because of the radeon driver (need to try with Catalyst)

you can try to reinstall your video driver, or another driver for your graphics card.

i had the "same" problem in fedora 18 i think, tho i have no idea how it got fixed, i stopped using it for a while since it didnt exactly help me out alot, in the meantime i upgraded to fedora 19 and messed around with different video drivers. after a while i tried it again and it went smoothly then, so i can only assume this is in fact a video driver issue. you can try installing ATI drivers with this tool: tho i cant vouch if this is a 100% safe/failproof

It might have been solved by updates. I will try again to install non-free driver, but I need time, since there is a big possibility that I will mess things up and spend another few hours to fix it.

I just want to confirm that it works with catalyst non-free driver. I followed (this) to install it on fedora 20

Hi, I have the same problem with AMD Mobility Radeon HD 3450 video card. Can't install catalyst either, because fedora 20 uses fresh kernel. There is no problem with fresh install, after yum upgrade problem appears. Confirm in both gnome and KDE environments.

I reinstalled the driver but it didn't help. However, I couldn't install catalyst non-free driver on 20.
