Since, RPM fusion no longer supports kmod-catalyst for fedora 20 and above, I am forced to use the open source driver. This driver is very choppy in games like megaglest and 0ad.

I have heard that Kernel 3.13 will improve the performance of many ATI cards.

What improvements in support will we see when Kernel 3.13 is released?

I think you might be able to get a better answer if you ask upstream.

I tried 3.13.0.rc7 and had no improvements on AMD Radeon HD 7420G. There was a lot of improvement from 3.11 to 3.12, but I can't see anything running anywhere near as well as Catalyst. Not having the choice is pushing me away from Fedora.

It may be required to use a later mesa library as well. Bug in general: all what I heard and read points to better support for ati southern islands gpus in kernel 3.13.
