Hi, can someone tell me if it's possible to create applications folders on fedora 20? I'd like to divide my applications (shown in the "Show Applications" page) in folders!

Thanks for the answers!

This blog post will explain to you how to add custom application folders.

You need to install the package dconf-editor:

sudo yum install dconf-editor

Then you need to open dconf-editor, navigate to org.gnome.shell, and manually edit the key app-folder-categories. I let you look at the link above for the details.

I have read in a comment here that this should been done in a near future within the application gnome-software (currently there is an early preview in Fedora 20 but you can't do much with it).

In the meantime, if you don't want to mess with application folders, maybe you will be interested by the Applications Menu GNOME Shell extension

Well, creating folders there to organise apps is a very basic feature. The folders seem to be pre-defined internally. For instance, if I create a folder with Office, I get some Libre Office apps automatically there. If I create a folder called HPC, no [empty] folder is created at all. It would be nice to just drag and drop apps over each other to create folders, just like on MacOS.

In my Fedora 25 "Utilities' is a folder with 4 items in it. Want to make a folder with LibreOffice apps in it. Tried to make a folder with 'LibreOffice' in Dconf-editor in org/gnome/desktop/app-folders/folder-children . Failed. Tried ,'Office' Failed. Is dconf-editor supposed to do editing? I did not find a user-manual for dconf-editor.

why? Fedora have applications in /usr/share/applications, you can install docky by yum install docky, then you have a docky under screen bottom, the second icon is Applications.
