Hey everyone,

I am running fedora 20 on both my laptops, and I want to be able to link them using an Ethernet cable.

Basically I just want to be able to freely move files and folders between them.

Can anyone please help me on how I can get this done?

You should:

  1. create a crossover ethernet cable to link the two laptops.
  2. change the IP address of both computers so they are in the same segment, e.g. 1st laptop, 2nd laptop

If you have a new laptop, you probably don't need a "crossover" cable anymore. Any 1G ethernet port has Auto-MDIX, and most recent 100M cards have it too. You only need of your laptops to have Auto-MDIX
