When trying to run the rpm file, it won't run. I am already logged in as root for upgrading the firefox web brower.

What am I doing wrong ?

In order to update a package (e.g. firefox) on Fedora run su -c "yum install firefox". Do not try to install rpm packages downloaded from elsewhere unless you really know what you are doing

No, that won't work. You need to use update, not install.

You can update or simply "(re)install":

sudo yum reinstall firefox

If this don't work, try:

sudo yum update firefox

Or:

sudo yum remove firefox
sudo yum install firefox

Not unless you remove it first; to reinstall it, you use "reinstall," not "install." You'll find this all covered in the man page for yum.

yum install on an installed package will update it to the latest version. From man yum: 'update operates on groups, files, provides and filelists just like the "install" command.'
