I just moved from F18 xfce to F19 xfce. Fresh install on reformatted disk.

All runs well, but there's no audio. Audio ran under F18 without problem.

Card is Intel ICH6 (cat /proc/asound/cards).

Audio mixer shows Intel ICH6 (Alsa mixer), all sliders at max. Speaker icon on panel shows 100%.

Still no audio.

Pavucontrol is installed. I tried running pavucontrol from terminal. Result:

pavucontrol: error while loading shared libraries. libplsecommon-3.0.so: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory.

How can I activate audio?

Thanks. Tom M.

Thanks. Turns out it seems to be a Pulseaudio control issue. I see that PCM defaults to Mute. Un-mute and audio is fine. But reboot the system, and PCM goes back to Mute.

Wonder if there's a way to have Pulseaudio PCM default to "on".

Edit: I'm signed in here, but there's no "reply" button. I can only add to my previous post.

Pulseaudio lib is installed. (your reply doens't show on this screen, so I can't quote it exactly).

What's the output of 'rpm -qa pulse' ?

<rpm -qa pulse> gives no output. Runs about five seconds, then returns to terminal prompt.

I believe you made a typo in your output above, and you should have libpulsecommon, not libplsecommon.

So I'll go on with that assumption.

That library is in fact provided by the pulseaudio-libs package.

Is it installed on your machine? If not, that might very well be the reason for your audio problems. ;-)
