Hi all,

I have a question about live Linux USB.

Except for the limited space, Is there any limitation in live mode in comparison with real installation?

Meaning, if we have a USB Memory with larg size (e.g 32 GB) is there another limitation and any difference between real and live Fedora?

Thanks, Nima

Live USBs are closely related to live CDs, but sometimes have the ability to persistently save settings and permanently install software packages back onto the USB device.

Data persistence

Data persistence means that your files and settings will remain even after you reboot your live system. You can perform updates just like a regular installation to your hard disk, except that kernel updates require manual intervention and overlay space may be insufficient. The primary use of this feature is booting a USB stick with your live image as well as the persistent changes. Note that you will need to have space on your target USB stick for the live image plus your overlay plus any other data you want on the stick.

And don't forget speed. Linux over USB is limited by the speed of the USB interface, which is not as quick as a hard disk SATA interface. USB 3 is quicker, but its still limited, and it's a flash memory device which can mean slow write times.
