general question on fedora

I installed gnome but how will it get displayed on fedora19? Will I see a GUI and will gedit be automatically installed? If not, how would you install the gedit text editor.

Yes. GNOME 3 would show up as GUI provided you have your system booting to GUI. When you install GNOME, gedit is also installed automatically.

To install a program that os available in Fedora, you can use the command line tool yum.

yum install packagename

Here, packagename is whatever you need. For example, gedit.

If you prefer using graphical tools, you can either use Add and Remove Software that comes installed in GNOME or you can install and use another graphical tool yumex.

GNOME is nothing but a desktop environment, just like themes ..and yes gedit will get installed automatically .. For more info.. check these Desktop environments .. fedoraproject.org/en/get-fedora-options
