I have just installed a fresh copy of Fedora Core 19 with all the latest updates on a Dell Vostro 3550. When the computer resumes from suspend, the screen will not turn back on. I played with the brightness setting and I've even shone a lantern against the screen to make sure it was not a backlight issue.

If I plug the laptop into my TV via HDMI, I can log back into Fedora just fine and reboot it.

Can somebody give me an idea of what to look at? I can provide logs if needed.

Can you try booting with the older kernel. Soemtimes new kernels have bugs.

I assume you already tried adjusting the brightness?

As I mentioned, the brightness was the first thing I had tried. What kernel version would you suggest I install?

After doing some more research, I decided to install the latest ATI Catalyst drivers by following this guide(1). Problem solved!
