What are you trying to select and in which application? Are you sure your mouse isn't broken? Please give more details, and even an screenshot if possible.

I could not select text to copy/paste either. This is in an xterm, browser window, whatever. I removed this "clipit" thing which fixed it.

sudo dnf erase clipit

Had to reboot to take effect. This is a fresh install of F29 , after dnf update.

You might want to consider the fact that the question is five years old, from before dnf was written. In fact, from what I can tell, this is the only post @umar ever made. Your suggestion is, of course, appreciated, but you might want to save it for more current issues in the future. Also, as clipit is part of your session, not the system, logging out and back in should have been enough.

@how0909: This also solved my problems selecting text on a fresh F28 install. The symptom was that I would select text and immediately or almost immediately the text would become unselected. I never really gave it much thought how much my interaction with gui applications requires selection. Removing clipit solved the problem. Thanks!
