I am using Fedora 19 (64-bit) on GNOME and I want to install the MATE desktop environment. How do I install it and configure it.

Thank you!

" and log out and choose in GDM: MATE

as MATE as a Gnome2 fork you configure it like you have maybe done it with Gnome 2.

He meant "MATE is a Gnome2 fork, so it will behave like you are used to from Gnome2" not that you need to do anything besides the yum command.

You can install it via:

sudo yum install @mate (in a terminal / Gnome terminal)

and log out and choose in GDM: MATE

as MATE as a Gnome2 fork you configure it like you have maybe done it with Gnome 2.
