whenever I try to boot my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop using Fedora 19 from a USB device, the boot process skips and Windows 8 boots up.

Is your BIOS set up to boot from USB?

restart your computer and press "esc" key will see a menu, in that menu there's an option to go to boot menu the key (might be F9) to go to boot menu and select Your boot device

hii guys i too face the same problem during my initial days .but i overcomed that problem the first thing you should have keep in mind is while booting fedora with usb (such as dual booting) we should have to make pendrive and fedora bootable .that means you should have to install another software named "UNETBOOTIN" this helps in making your pendrive bootable .once your pendrive bootable it is ready for booting and this case you don't face problem which you posted . . . . sorry for my bad english........

.. .. with regards gireesh.
