There is an option to do android development on linux with the android SDK bundled with eclipse (developer.android.com/sdk/index.html), or with the package installed into an already installed eclipse. I've tried both methods, 32 and 64 bit an none of them work. (This proceeded without a hitch on Ubuntu on the same machine. uname -a Linux fedora19-localdomain 3.10.3-300.fc19.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Jul 26 00:00:58 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

If you're running 64bit Fedora, I found I had to install the following packages to get android's ADB to work correctly (apparently it's something to do with it (adb) being 32 bit on a 64 bit operating system)

sudo yum install libstdc++.i686 ncurses-libs.i686 zlib.i686

This installs 32bit versions of the already included 64bit packages. Fixed the problems I was having getting ADB to work from the ADT download (I used the 64 bit version).

  1. the Eclipse bundle runs on Fedora flawlessly as-is, that is whithout installation. You could of course link its icon and have it booted from your launcher as with other installed applications. If you don't know how to do this, maybe such a tutorial would be useful to you:

(actually my karma doesn t let me post links, as soon as I can, I will)

But, from my experience I ve never had problems with installing the Android SDK from within Eclipse. Could you tell me the steps you followed?
