I have upgraded from Fedora18 to Fedora19 using fedup utility. As far as my knowledge, Fedora19 comes with GNOME 3.8 and also I have heard from Ubuntu users that Cinnamon 1.8 can't be installed on OS having GNOME 3.8 and if we do then it breaks Cinnamon 1.8.

So kindly let me know whether, Cinnamon 1.8 can be installed on Fedora 19(GNOME 3.8)?

For things like Desktop Env's you want to usually install the group so you are sure you have everything you need to run it.

'yum groupinstall cinnamon-desktop' should install all the packages that desktop needs/wants. From there you can remove any applications that are added that you don't use.

For specific applications, there are usually not groups, so the above advise works great for those. ;)

If you're not happy with plain Fedora, which ships in with Gnome, you can try the MATE Spin (Fedora MATE) which comes with a fork of Gnome 2.x that looks just like old Gnome but with all new features.

You can read more about Fedora MATE-Compiz and download it in
