I am using Fedora 18 in a 64 bit sistem. I have a USB floppy drive. I am trying to create a BFO disk in a floppy to get back to live a old laptop thta does not boot from USB and the DVD tray is broken.

Everything that I have found point to fd0 but I haven't a /dev/fd0 I do have /dev/fd/0

Demesg shows that the USB Floppy drive is mounted as /dev/sdb but it lacks partition.

I can see the files on the floppy mounted automatically in nautilus, I tried to erase files and it worked.

I think I side tracked looking at formating the floppy to ensure it was working right with linux.

I have looked at ufiformat, probe option showed /dev/sdb and /dev/sg2. It supposedly worked formating but it did not.

I have looked at kfloppy and it said "internal error: device not defined in the proper way" or something like that, I am translating from Spanish outpu message

But in the end what I want is copy the bfo image to the floppy. When I try "dd if=bfo.dsk of=/dev/sdb" said it is a directory if I try "dd if=bfo.dsk of=/dev/sdb1" said that it copied but there is nothing on the disk. Same hapens when I tried "dd if=bfo.dsk of=/dev/fd/0" ... said it copied around 360kb but there is nothing on the floppy.

How do I get the proper device path to do a dd command and make the boot BFO disk work?

The previous http://www.floppytousb.net (floppy to usb). its paltry one.14MB of storage does not quantity to all or any that a lot of recently, however they still hold an area in an exceedingly ton of people\'s hearts WHO bear in mind transporting their precious files around on them. And currently you\'ll be able to do this once more with new USB floppy.

The usb floppy is working to retrieve files correctly in fedora 19 without any additional software. My problem was about making a bootable disk.
