I bought a y500 two days ago and i wanted to dual boot windows 8 and fedora 19, so here's what i did

1.downloaded fedora 19 (x64) iso from the fedora website.

2.made a live USB using live usb creator.

3.opened disk management utility and shrunk the c drive (windows 8 was installed here) by 100 gb and kept the 100gb unallocated.

4.started the laptop with novo button, changed the bios config to boot from usb.

5.installed fedora from usb, selecting the 100gb unallocated memory for installation

6.restarted the laptop.

now the problem is fedora works perfectly but when i try to boot windows 8, the following error is shown.

windows failed to start

status: 0xc0000225

info:the boot configuration data for your PC is missing or contains errors.

i am guessing the fedora installation overwrote the boot files of windows and i have not taken a backup. please help

Insert your Windows DVD and repair your system. You can even use the command line to type

Press Enter after each.

This is not a Windows support site though.

thanks, but the thing is, I have not recieved the windows DVD, so can use the second option without the disk?. secondly, once I repair windows, would I be required to reinstall fedora again?

@gokul_uf The second option can be made only with your Windows DVD. And it is a repair, so I don't think you'll need to reinstall Fedora.
