i tried downloading the live desktopiso but after downloading it gave a checksum error in tryiing to make a liveusb and to my horror the DVD iso i made could not be read . Then i proceeded to upgrade via fedup. now after downloading around 2 GB , it gave an error when only a few MBs in 23 remaining packages are to be downloaded. the error is :

fedup-cli --network 19 --reboot -v

fedup INFO: /usr/bin/fedup-cli starting at Wed Jul 3 16:33:34 2013 setting up repos... fedup.yum INFO: FedupDownloader(version=19, cachedir=/var/tmp/fedora-upgrade) fedup.yum INFO: checking repos fedup.yum INFO: repo adobe-linux-x86_64 seems OK fedup.yum INFO: repo default-installrepo seems OK fedup.yum INFO: repo fedora seems OK fedup.yum INFO: repo rpmfusion-free seems OK fedup.yum INFO: repo rpmfusion-free-updates seems OK fedup.yum INFO: repo rpmfusion-nonfree seems OK fedup.yum INFO: repo rpmfusion-nonfree-updates seems OK fedup.yum INFO: repo updates seems OK getting boot images...

Downloading failed: couldn't get boot images: curl#22 - "The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found" fedup INFO: Downloading failed: couldn't get boot images: curl#22 - "The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found" fedup INFO: /usr/bin/fedup-cli exiting at Wed Jul 3 16:33:35 2013

i feel that what is required is refreshening of fedup so that it seeks a new url, but how to do that refresh without the risk of losing the 2GB of downloaded packages( Plz note that 3G internet is costly in INDIA)

The issue was solved the very other day by itself. As i had mentioned earlier the prob was of default repo site which had caved under load on the release day.

Disable your third party repositories and try again.

List repos:

# yum repolist

Disable repos:

# yum-config-manager --disable <reponame>

If you have further problems with fedup, could always install fedora-upgrade and run that instead, that's how I upgraded my F18 pc and it didn't have any problems apart from missing the grub-starfield-theme which I then installed anyway.

Yes this also worked for me using a VM in Virtual Box when fedup didn't work properly. I too was getting the same error message:

Downloading failed: couldn't get boot images: curl#22 - "The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found"

i checked the repo site. it no longer shows any data. so the solution is to change the default repo .how to do that? Trying to give a specific url with -- instrepo option. Hope it works
