If you would run the following in terminal:

yum groupinstall "Development Tools"

You will get gcc, autoconf, automake etc. For compiling and installing software. That command will install many other tools as well you might be needing down the road and are good to have if you are going to be installing packages manually.

To install just the three packages you listed above simply type the following in terminal:

yum install gcc gcc-c++ autoconf automake

if you need any other assitance feel free to comment.

I've given this an answer to other questions before too; makes a lot more sense than trying to cherry pick packages you need. If you do a:

yum groupinfo "Development Tools"

you can see what other neat packages you're getting too. (Too many to list)

all the packages are essential for the most part, at some point or another. So why not get all of them?
