I downloaded fedora 18, wrote/verified image on DVD. Bootup laptop with the DVD. Message displayed about starting install process, screen cleared then the fedora graphic displayed in the center of the screen. After a few minutes the graphic disappears, the dvd drive continues to spin while a black screen is displayed. Another few minutes the dvd drive stops spinning and the blank screen continues to be displayed. Pressing the esc key during the process doesn't do anything. After 30 minutes I hit the power button to force the laptop to shut down.

What next? It's impossible to trouble shoot when only a blank screen is displayed.

same thing happened to me on a Dell vostro 3750 laptop. I did verify the install disk, no effect.

Did you check minimum requirements to install fedora?

I would like to help but you need to tell me if you used a standard DVD of 4.7gigs or a non standard DVD. The next question I ask is, after booting the DVD, did you respond to the option to verify the checksum of the DVD itself.

If the second test works, I see no problem other than perhaps your computer has a special video driver. Please provide as much technical information as you are able to collect.
