gnome-shell favorites bar

Is that even the name for the launcher bar on the left?

I notice that I have firefox on the launcher and when I click firefox it opens a new window but when I look at the launcher it creates a new firefox icon which happens to be blurry compared to the one added in favorites.

So two issues here, the icon is blurry and second shouldn't gnome-shell group the window into the original icon in the launcher, similar to how win7 is?

Is there a way to change this behavior?

Thank you!

I'm not sure why you have a blurry icon there... but I'm going to take a guess. Did you perhaps install firefox manually, in addition to the Fedora packaged firefox? If you ended up with two copies of firefox on the system, that may explain the behavior you're seeing.

The GNOME Shell "launcher" (I don't know what its proper name is either) definitely does group running instances with existing "favorite" items, it adds a small underline below the icon to indicate that the "favorite" is running.
