I am running Fedora 18, 3.8.5-201.fc18.x86_64 and I have been using abrt since first installation. Recently I have not been able to get access to the abrt GUI.

I have re-installed abrt and that was successful, yet I am unable to get the GUI. I have reported a number of bugs, so I know it used to work correctly.

I located the abrt icon, in the application search, started it:-

a. I see the application appear to start, cursor turns to a "operation wait"

b. Application exits

c. No error logged in messages

Further investigation has identified the following:-

a. The current applications linked to the desktop-app ABRT is gnome-abrt, which is a python script and it does not work now.

b. There is a number of binaries in /usr/bin/abrt-*

The /usr/bin/abrt-gui or /usr/bin/abrt-applet both can be invoked.

The gnome-abrt generates the following error:-
gnome-abrt &
