I have dual boot system with Fedora 18 and Windows 8. I set date and time in Fedora. Reboot to windows. Date and time distrubed. Similarly if I set date and time in windows, boot into Fedora, the date & time are gone.

I used to observe this problem in older versions of Fedora, but got fixed with updates. When will Fedora 18 release update fixing this problem ?

This usually happens because Windows uses local time and Fedora, by default, uses UTC. There's probably some date/time setting in the Desktop if you're using Gnome, but I've always done it by just changing /etc/adjtime from UTC to LOCAL.

This Archlinux wiki article gives information on changing Linux to local or Windows to UTC https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Time

Ok. So windows stores local time while linux and mac store UTC time. So this problem should occur in every version of fedora and other linux distros. I don't mind changing my window's setting to store utc. But why is the problem specifically occurring in Fedora 18 with windows 8 ? Can it be called as a bug ? Such thing did not occur in Fed17 (atleast with latest updates ! )
