I attempted to install the drivers I need for a Radeon 4300 video card from rpmfusion, as the default driver doesn't manage my screen resolution. Now X doesn't start (failure message is that it hasn't waited "for Plymouth boot screen to quit" and I can't get to a command line.

What is the simplest way to get back to the default driver and a working system (starting with, how do I get to the command line)? I'd rather just do that than the other workaround I found in here, which was an elaborate way of downgrading X.

To boot into terminal mode, press "e" at the boot menu, arrow down to the line that starts with "linux", put a 3 at the end of the line, then press F10. Now you can use yum to add/remove video drivers.

Also, try deleting/renaming /etc/X11/xorg.conf, if it exists, then rebooting normally. That config file is no longer required, although it is still needed to enable custom options.
