Hi! Once a time, I installed Fedora 17 in my desktop computer and in my laptop, and in my desktop computer the chat conversations appears in a window and not in the notification bar.

Now, I installed Fedora 18, also in my desktop computer and in my laptop, but now, the problem is in the laptop, the chat conversations appears in a window and not in the notification bar.

Notably, that the configuration is the same, I mean, I installed the same things in the two computers, and if I modify something, is in the two computers.

What can I do? Someone know what's the problem?

regards

What desktop environment are you using? If you have empathy running in gnome3, for example, messages will come in your chat conversation window rather than notifications I'd expect. I have notifications working on my system though. Gnome3, F18, up to date.

GNOME 3.6 in Fedora 18, but in Fedora 17 also happen. Yersterday, when I post this question, messages appears in the popup in the notification bar (at the botom). Today, when someone writes me, chat is windowed.

If you have empathy running, notifications will not pop up. Shut empathy and your pop ups should continue.

@FranciscoD_: wrong, you get notification popups even when Empathy is running. You just don't get them if the Empathy conversation window currently has the focus.
