Here docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/17/html/SystemAdministratorsGuide/s1-x-server-configuration.httml is stated:

When Fedora 17 is installed, the configuration files for X are created using information gathered about the system hardware during the installation process by the HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) configuration back end. Whenever the X server is started, it asks HAL for the list of input devices and adds each of them with their respective driver.

End statement

Is it possible to reinitiate/relaunch this process which gathers information about the system hardware during the installation process by the HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) configuration back end on an already installed and running system Fedora 17 and to recreate the conf files for X ? How ?

I have transplanted a Fedora 17 on new hardware (motherboard etc.) by simply transferring the system disks and have troubles with correct recognition/intialisation of input devices and their settings per user.
