I live usb boot to fedora 29. I get to the first page of installation to pick my language and I can't click on "continue" button or anything else. Nothing happens with the installation. I also noticed the names of most of the languages are half cut off. If I try to go to "settings" from the taskbar the mouse will freeze and nothing happens. I have to hard shutdown the computer by pressing and holding the power button.

I use the workstation version. If I use the xfce version it installs without issue but still seems laggy and freezes at times while in use.

My system is HP 260 G2 desktop mini. It's got 12 GB ram, 40 GB SSD, i3-6100u with integrated intel hd graphics 520. My system should be able to handle version 29. So either my system is too old or 29 has some serious installation problems.

I found an iso of fedora 26 workstation and was able to install it without any issue under 10 minutes and it just works. I think this is what I was using before until I started doing updates/upgrades and things started to freeze/lag on version 28. I saw version 29 was available and decided to try it to fix my issues. However, I can't install it at all.

So what I wonder is how much has fedora changed from 26 to 29 that my system can't use it? The kernel itself must have changed in such a way to make these newer versions impossible to install on my pc.

I tried to install 27 and 28 to see at what point it stops working. I installed 27 without issues. When I tried to install 28 the issues began. The first page of setup to pick language froze up. I could not click on any language or the continue button. Unlike 29 the name of the languages don't get cut off in half. So issues for my computer start at version 28.

I prefer to use workstation version. I have no idea why it freezes during install. Also my test version 27 wanted to update so after updating it now a few seconds after logging in the system freezes. I have to use the previous kernel to get back to a working system.

Did you try to boot from another Fedora 29 ISO?
