Fedora 29 Login without password

I tried this on Gnome fedora 29 just now and couldn't repeat this. A single cancel roles back to user select. several iterations of selecting user and then cancel would not login. What desktop do you have selected for login? Also how many user accounts do you have shown?

Hi, there. It only works for me whenever I restart my computer. If I directly logout my account, I would not be able to repeat this. I only have a single user account. I have attached a link to the video if you are interested. Not sure if it is caused by my own configuration.link text

Should definitely not be happening. Is this a fresh install?

You could reinstall Fedora from a new ISO and verify the check sums!

As far as I understand it, from what I've seen from the video -- that was not actual login prompt.

That's gnome prompting you for the password for your gnome-keyring -- and you can indeed cancel out of it.

gnome-keyring is where gnome stores your various keys and passwords (not that many by default). You can install Seahorse gui application to view them all (was installed by default in previous Fedora versions, it isn't in F29). It usually gets unlocked on logging into your gnome session -- with your login password, as far as I know.

When you've changed your password, there can be a situation, when gnome-keyring's password wasn't updated (maybe you've changed your password from cli). Then you login successfully, but your login password is no more able to unlock gnome-keyring, and g-k starts to pester you with these "unable to unlock" messages.

And if you cancel the prompt -- gnome just isn't able to access stored keys and passwords, but the system is otherwise fully functional.

I've had it once maybe twice in the past, to resolve it I've used Seahorse to change password for default keyring (set it to my login password).
