Thanks in advance for any assistance you guys can give me. I have a new ASUS VivoBook and I'm planning to install Fedora 29 and I want to use all of the touchscreen tech that's available. Can someone please recommend which apps/packages I should use to accomplish this. Again, thanks in advance for any help.

you need at least:

firefox-wayland thunderbird-wayland gnome-tweaktool powertop

and a bunch of gnome extensions to make it easier to access certain functions.

visit :

cpuFreq is the least to install.

and... you have to run your desktop in wayland mode, not in Xorg mode. Wayland will be auto selected on installation, but keep it in mind when you test stuff.

You will have to change several configs of apps starting firefox, to make them use firefox-wayland. Liferea i.e. That should be all, BUT you will not be so happy, until you adjusted all energysafeoptions in powertop and make them perma enabled. aka. put them into an init.d file. atm i'm writing a series of articles about a surface pro and how to setup it up correctly incl. building a custom kernel.

In the end.. some parts of gnome will be fucking awesome to use, i.e. webradio from an desktop directly. It's brilliant.

Remember: Leftside -> wish from left to right to get the dock. But you can use an extension to get different dock.

Some apps, like QMMP, will be next to unusable on 3k screens and others are not meant to deal with touch usage at all. There will be much to do to change Linux apps to be touch aware.

Thanks... that's a bit to take in all at once but I think I will probably start this weekend... thanks again, so when should we expect that article you're writing?
