Help installing NVIDIA drivers
Hi,
Tried to install NVIDIA drivers both through RPM Fusion way or using official drivers, both give me black screen after splash, no errors.
I have the feeling the drivers are not meant for Notebooks, only for desktop graphics (NVIDIA website doesn't show any drivers for RTX 2060 if you select Notebooks).
EDIT: Fixed, it works fine through RPM Fusion. Problem seemed to be specific to KDE login manager. Auto-login works fine. Gnome Workstation works fine.
Any pointers? Thanks
The feeling you have is wrong. The drivers are the same for desktops, laptops, notebooks and any other type of computer. However, I do have to ask if you removed the drivers that didn't work before trying something else?
It's not a feeling, if you go to NVIDIA site, and click drivers, RTX, laptopts. It shows only windows. However if you switch laptops to desktop, drivers are there.
If I remove the drivers, back to nouveau, everything works fine.
Just because they don't show the drivers doesn't mean that they won't work.
okay, RPM Fusion package working fine, after a fresh reinstall of fedora. Not sure what was wrong in the first place.
sidenote: anyone having a 3d-accelerator from nvidia in his/her/* laptop, he/she/it will need "bumblebee" to run software on the nvidia gpu. just installing nvidia drivers does not help in this situation.
