I have an Intel X550-T2 10GbE-T network card that does have temperature sensors and a 1,200-page manual (not kidding) explaining every aspect of the sensors. How do I get the temperature from said card using lm_sensors?

Getting something like this up and running takes more than just installing the software. Included in the package is a script, sensors-detect, that tells you what sensors are available and how to configure the main program to use them. My suggestion is to go to the project's site and follow the instructions there. If you're still having difficulties, there's a mailing list that you can join and ask for further assistance. Please keep us informed and let us know how things work out.

Thanks for the reminder on the mailing list. Sensors-detect does not detect that network card off the shelf but the mailing list just might help.

I received a very helpful response from a volunteer supporter, and he found out that hwmon does not currently detect the temperature of that card. I sent an e-mail to the mailing list of the maintainers of the 10GbE-T Intel driver and am waiting to see if anyone will respond with anything.

The driver team responded by saying that they will welcome a patch to the driver to provide the temperature to hwmon but that that functionality is not implemented now nor does the team have the resources to implement.
