I have just purchased an asus laptop with an nvidia graphic card. I want to install Fedora 29 but when it gets to "loading gdm" the system freezes. I have tried also downloading an xfce spin but with same result. Is there any solution to this issue so I can use fedora on this laptop?
Managed to solve the issue. Started the kernel with nouveau.modeset=0 and this loads the intel driver. The installation can proceed as normal. Once installed the proprietary nvidia driver can be installed.

use E on the grub menu before the timer expires, add 3 to the end of the linux command line, press ctrl-x to boot, you will get a low resolution gui, and should be able to install nvidia drivers to get it to work.
