Hi all, I have installed nvidia drivers on my Fedora 29 laptop (Dell latitude e6400, quite old but working). I have a quadro NVS160. Driver installation went well, even if I had to exclude dkms configuration, in the nvidia driver installation process. After rebooting, I see the nvidia configuration tool, and the laptop works. BUT: VLC and mpv stopped working. VLC plays the sound of a video, but it does not show the video itself. For any video format, it says:

VLC cannot decode the format "xxx" (.... PART10))

For any video format!!!!

mpv is even worse. Here the transcript:
$ mpv
mpv: /lib64/ no version information available (required by /lib64/
mpv: /lib64/ no version information available (required by /lib64/
mpv: /lib64/ no version information available (required by /lib64/
mpv: relocation error: /lib64/ symbol clCreateImage version OPENCL_1.2 not defined in file with link time reference

I tried to:

  1. Reinstall vlc
  2. Reinstall mpv
  3. reinstall libvdpau (as I have found this suggestion in a thread) I
  4. install gstream* (dnf install gstream*)

No way! I have lost the possibility to play videos :-( Info of my configuration:

Linux xxxlocaldomain 4.19.10-300.fc29.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Dec 17 15:34:44 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G98M [Quadro NVS 160M] (rev a1)
Fedora 29
Drivers installed:

Any help? Thank you!

I am not sure; if it works for you; but UnitedRPMs is a option with updated and full ffmpeg, vlc and mpv...
