How do I install recoll in fedora29?

I have just installed Fedora 29 Workstation on my laptop. Recoll is my preferred document search/index tool. I have enabled third-party repositiories. However, when I search for "recoll" in the GNOME Software app, no results are found. Do I need to tweak GNOME Software and add other repositories? Or can recoll be found using some other search term?

You won't find recoll in gnome software because it doesn't belong there, being written with qt library, which is different grom the gtk library used in gnome. You're right, this is quite unfortunate. I would suggest to install dnfdragora as a graphical interface to package management, so you can browse and install from there all the packages you want. Besides, recoll is a great software, quick and accurate.

IMHO, the best to tool to search, install, manage and remove software on Fedora is dnf, independent of your spin or desktop environment.

dnf search recoll

returns a package, which you can simply installed by running

sudo dnf install recoll

Thank you for the prompt and enlightening answers. I now have recoll and dnfdragora installed on my laptop. I'm glad that most package management tasks can still be done using the command line.

In fact, all package management tasks can be done using the command line. dnf is the tool to use and it's not difficult to learn!
