Fedora silverblue 4.19 not booting

asked 2018-11-23 15:35:37 -0500

Hey, I have just upgraded to Kernal 4.19 on Silverblue but when I try to boot after grub all I see is a black screen, no output whatsoever. I usually see a place to put in my HDD decryption password.

I am running with these specific kernal parameters otherwise I tend to have unstable graphics radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=1 radeon.cik_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=1 amdgpu.dc=1

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Hi again,

I found a solution for my problem. I changed GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in /etc/default/grub. There was an entry nvidia-drm.modeset=1. I think i added it there to make lightdm running. I found a posting that setting this to zero will help(thx to Google ;-) ). My GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX is now: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=" rhgb quiet rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau modprobe.blacklist=nouveau nvidia-drm.modeset=0" This worked for me. Don't forget to run "grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg" to make the changes effective.

Regards, Wilfried.

Hey, I have the same problem here since the upgrade to kernel 4.19.2-200.fc28.x86_64. After entering the system password I see a black screen and the mouse cursor. if there is an external monitor connected I can move the cursor even to this monitor. So I think the Nvidia-drivers are up but only a black screen is shown.

My system is an Lenovo Thinkpad P70 with Nividia graphic(NVIDIA Corporation GM107GLM [Quadro M600M]) OS: Fedora 28 Desktop: Xfce

Is there anybody out there who has an idea what to do.

Thx for help, Wilfried.
