Hi there, I'm trying to update my grub2 with # grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg but it actually does nothing. Here's the only thread that I found about it. Here is the # strace grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg output (had to ctrl^c after 5 minutes because after "read 3" nothing else happened) . I also noticed that since that problem there's a systemd-modules-load issue. dmesg output.

I'm on fedora 29 with an HP omen 2016 with bumblebee installed dual-booting alongside Windows10

Any help would be really appreciated

I solved the systemd-modules-load problem and the issue persist.

The strace command is not very useful here as grub2-mkconfig is a shell script.

What I would do when grub2-mkconfig is stuck is to run ps axf and search for the grub2-mkconfig process. Below the grub2-mkconfig process entry you will see the entries that has been started by grub2-mkconfig and one of them will be the one that caused grub2-mkconfig to be stuck.

That got somewhat garbeled,

GRUB_TIMEOUT=10 GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="$(sed 's, release .*$,,g'
/etc/system-release)" GRUB_DEFAULT=saved GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=true
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau modprobe.blacklist=nouveau nvidia-drm.modeset=1
resume=UUID=d9a13e5a-463e-468f-b344-17b35c2b9bae rhgb quiet"

Should have looked something like this:

GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="$(sed 's, release .*$,,g' /etc/system-release)"

I've got bbswitch installed so that explains the nouveau and nvidia related parameters. Maybe I should try removing some settings..

Run dracut -f to rebuild initramfs and reboot.

That didn't solve the problem. Same issue.
