I installed Slack from the official website by downloading the package, but when I try to run the app, it is not running, and I do not see any errors appearing. Has any of you any experience with installing and using Slack on Fedora 29?

Unfortunately not working for me. Installed those and still end up with 'Segmentation fault (core dumped)' at command line and from GUI I get nothing. UPDATE: found another post talking about slack using an outdated My Skype for fedora was still working and it had a so copied it from /usr/share/skypeforlinux/ to /usr/lib/slack/ and it works fine now. Another package mentioned with updated libnode was atom, if you don't have skype. Essentially just download, take the over to slack dir and remove the package you downloaded.

Thanx a lot, this worked for me.

@carnivorouz, I think that's because you're trying to launch the one installed by dnf - do 'dnf remove slack' to ensure you have only the flatpak version installed, then try it

@carnivorouz Actually your comment should be presented as a solution. Thanks for this, works well for me.

The answer to this is to install Slack's custom built rpm until they officially release one. I contacted Slack support and they sent me this rpm to download:

I imagine this is due to a bug in Electron that is causing apps to segfault on Fedora 29. Once Slack rebuilds their desktop app with the latest Electron it should be resolved.

Yes, If we try to run the app from terminal, it immediately throws the segFault error.
