Migrating mirrored RAID sets to New Server

I have 2 RAID1 - mirrored drive - sets from a previous server that I'm migrating from Windows to Fedora 28. These are NTFS volumes, and were managed by a SATA RAID controller that was also moved with the drives, just in case.

The mirrors seem to be in tact. The controllers are recognized by Fedora 28. The NTFS partitions are able to be mounted.

So, I'm debating .. should I attempt to mirror the drives using MDADM, or should I create a new RAID set through MDADM and copy the contents of the drives into that new RAID Array?

As a retired UNIX system administrator, my strong recommendation would be to make backups of your current data and verify them, reconfigure your new RAID setup, and then restore the data to the new setup. This way, if anything goes wrong, you would still have the backups.

Started the backup process last night - 12 hrs ago - with the drives in the new Linux server. Every single file had an IO error. So, I'm going to have to setup the old system, and try to copy the data off the raids through the original OS, then move the drives.
