Hi, I am trying to install and run an application on Fedora 28. Here is the link to the application page http://keepnote.org/.

I installed all the dependencies listed on the developers website in order and then install the .rpm package in downloaded using dnf package manager. However when I try to run the application via the GUI ( i.e Activities - Search for Application - Launch) there is no response whatsoever. The response I get upon running

journalctl -b | grep keepnote

is as follows -

May 07 13:08:25 metacore sudo[2361]:   alhamz : TTY=pts/0 ; PWD=/home/alhamz/Downloads ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/dnf install keepnote-0.7.8-1.noarch.rpm

Also, I have tried just starting from he RPM file I have downloaded and doing the install through the software centre but the result is the same. As an aside I should also mention that I am not very proficient with Linux as a whole yet so bare with me if there is gaping holes in my knowledge or stupid questions! Any help or guidance resolving this issue would be appreciated.

keepnote last release date is 2012. There are many similar applications in Fedora: notejots, snotes, knotes, sticky-notes, kjots, rekollect, renku, gnote, rednotebook, tomboy, cherrytree, gjots2, xournal and probably others.

I will take a look at those substitutes, thanks. But aside from replacing it, any ideas or guidance on what might be going wrong here? It comes pre-installed with Kali Linux and I have been able to use it with Ubuntu. Just curious now as to what might be the problem here...

@alhamz add

export PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages

to ~/.bashrc logout and login again, keepnote should now start.

@fcomida, thanks. Exporting the path variable did seem to advance the start up process a little but now its having issues with one of the dependencies versions conflicting with the existing version of python or some such.

In conclusion, lol I will take the first advice you gave me and explore other latest alternatives of the application. Appreciate your help and I will close this question now.
