Installer freezes at boot loader

For the past few days I've been trying to install Fedora Workstation from a LiveUSB on an Acer Aspire ES1-533 and the install has been freezing on "installing boot loader" every single time. I have tried Fedora 27, 26, and 25. I have also tried Ubuntu and CentOS, and they have similar issues.

The LiveUSB instance works perfectly, it only does this when I try to install Fedora.

Things I've tried so far: playing with every BIOS option, disabling and enabling secure boot, trying different versions of Fedora, using netinstall instead of the Live image, updating the BIOS, and several using several different media writers to put the ISO on the USB drive.

Has anyone ever had this issue? How can it be resolved? I've seen others have had this problem as well from Google searches but none of the posts offer any solution.

It seems like a shitty UEFI implementation (playing nice only with windows), or rather, to be more precise, shittier than usual (buggy and insecure)...

Maybe you'll find something useful in here:

Hi there, I have seen this thread while I was searching for a solution. Unfortunately it hasn't helped with Fedora. I tried installing Ubuntu with the instructions there and the result is still the same. The installation freezes and does not respond.

Following guide from that link, you should at least be able to install Ubuntu, as bootloader is installed there manually, not using standard installer. Have you tried that?

Here's how to install Fedora without bootloader:

Anyway, there's a fresh BIOS update fixing waking up from sleep on Linux, maybe they fixed it's installation earlier. inxi -M will show your current BIOS version.

I was able to successfully install Fedora 27 without the bootloader, but now I am unable to enter Fedora without a liveUSB.

Have you used automatic partitioning? Do you have any other partitions beside Fedora's? Use fdisk -l.
