python error

asked 2017-11-17 08:21:43 -0500

I tried to upgrade the python version from 2.6 to 2.7 using following commands

tar xJf Python-3.6.3.tar.xz

cd Python-3.6.3

make install

After this, I'm unable to use python ( 2.6 or 2.7 )

This is the following error I'm getting

]$ python

Could not find platform independent libraries <prefix> Could not find platform dependent libraries <exec_prefix> Consider setting $PYTHONHOME to <prefix>[:<exec_prefix>] ImportError: No module named site

You downloaded Python 3.6. Which version of Fedora are you running? Python 2.7 should be installed by default since years. To revert your installation you could try to change to the directory where you have extracted Python 3.6 ( cd Python-3.6.3 ), then run a make uninstall in that folder.
