How to call a script when a network interface is down?

I would like to call a script when one of my network interfaces is down. The network interface was configured using NetworkManager, and it is a VPN connection. Is that possible?

I am running Fedora 27 beta, but I'm also interested for Fedora 26 since it's probably the same answer.

You need to add a script in /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/ for vpn down you should name it vpn-down please read more here
