Hi All,

I am seeking for help / guidence at setting up wireless network for a laptop where the wireless card is not recogmized by the system. I have just performed a clean F26 install on my 5 year old HP Pavilion 6dv laptop. Unfortunately I cant connet to the internet at all with it. Plugged the ethernet cable in and the system recognizes the wired connection but apps are not working online and dnf update either.

Is there a way to install neccessary wireless driver (i guess it's broadcomm) offline?

I would appriciate any of your thoughs on this.

Many thanks,

Run lspci and paste the lines corresponding to the ethernet and wireless devices. With the ethernet cable plugged in, what is the output of ip addr and ip route?

The ip addr output was cut off, there's a limit to how much text you can put in a comment. You could edit the question to put it there. But from the route info, there is only the virtual network device, with no ethernet routes.

I tried to install manually the missing driver for that shitty broadcomm adapter (broadcom-wl). However it was required thousands of other packages to install before (kmod, akmod, kernel-devel-uname, rpmbuild...itd). I was downloading them via rpm source site and installing them manually on the laptop without the network. But after a while I got tired of it as it seemed to be a never ending story (every manually installed rpm needed a new one to install). I even tried to do usb tethering and create wifi hotpost using my android phone. There is still no network, and the netbook cannot connect.

Problem solved by connecting my android phone correctly and using usb tethering. Afterwards I was able to download needed broadcom-wl pkg with all needed dependencies. Rebooted and I have WiFi. Thanks for trying to help!
