Since last November i have uninstalled fedora 25 in my notebook.

I have the network card Wifi BCM43142.

Which I followed the steps of the following post:

In a kernel update I broke the Wifi connection.

I did not have time, since I had to do some writing, to solve and ask the community. That is why I installed Gnome Ubuntu, which has no problems with the driver of my Wifi.

Now, with time to do the backup and before the new Fedora 26 release, I would try to try it and see if it works for me.

But not to make mistakes, is that I ask the steps that should follow to install Fedora and keep me updated when Fedora 27 and the following:

1) Install GCC and kernel sources

2) Enable rpmfusion free and non-free

3) install the driver package

sudo dnf install akmod-wl

4) Reboot my machine

Question 1: Are steps 1-4 correct?

Question 2: Do I have to execute some command like "akamods", or is it automatic building the Wifi driver?

Question 3: When I leave Fedora 27 do I just have to update the akmod-wl package?

Those steps are correct. However, sometimes the automatic kernel module build and install doesn't work for some reason. In that case, you just need to run sudo akmods yourself. You might need the force option, check the akmods help for more info.

I hope not to be crucified here. Effectively the steps are correct, you should report it in bugzilla rpmfusion if it failed. Question 2: it is automatic; Question 3:Yes, the driver works in F27. But in UnitedRPMs, exist a alternative to akmod-wl, and works in F24-F27 I am using in these moment "broadcom-wl-dkms"... But is neccesary uninstall the package of rpmfusion and install the unitedrpms repository.

1. rpm --import

2. su

3. dnf -y install$(rpm -E %fedora)-6.fc$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm

4. dnf install broadcom-wl-dkms
