Sound used to work for me on my KDE Fedora 16. Yesterday I did yum update and now there's no sound in my media apps (like VLC/dragon/kaffeine). However, when I right-click on the volume app and enter the Phonon settings, test sounds work.

It's an Intel HDA card.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Phonon detected the extra hardware and removed it. When i ran phonon through kde system settings instead of the volume control app it said that one device had failed and it was falling back.

I let KDE remove the hardware it detected, rebooted and now it's fine.
