GTK problems with X-server since upgrade to Fedora 25

I use Fedora in a VirtualBox virtual machine using a Windows-based X-server as the windowing system (in several places using either windows 10 or windows 7). This has always worked fine in the past, but since the upgrade to Fedora 25 there are problems with many programs, notably Firefox and Emacs.

In both cases, menu's appear off screen. The console is filled with GTK error messages. This doesn't happen when running the programs inside a Fedora 25 display.

This happens with both cygwin-x and vcxserv. My guess is that it has something to do with the switch to Wayland, but this is not acceptable since a lot of us still run regular X-servers.

This happened also with a fresh install of Fedora 25,

Any hope of a solution? Thanks Gulliver

To be clear, you are trying to run Firefox connecting over localhost to the X server on Windows? Firefox on Fedora 25 works fine for me displaying on a remote Fedora 25 X server, no Wayland involved.

What are the GTK error messages?
