Oracle VM Guest Additions won't install Fedora 17 i386

The headers for the current running kernel were not found. If the following module compilation fails then this could be the reason. The missing package can be probably installed with yum install kernel-devel-3.4.4-3.fc17.i686.PAE

And that log file says this:

So whats the deal with this? This is crucial to me being able to run Fedora 17.

First, make sure your system is updated yum update and then install the following install kernel-devel kernel-headers dkms gcc gcc-c+ You should then be able to mount the Guest Additions ISO and run ./ You can also install Guest Additions from the RPM Fusion repository by adding that repository and installing VirtualBox-guest

thanks for solution it works for f18 too. i installed kernel-devel kernel-headers dkms gcc but no gcc-c+

You need to install the kernel-devel package. As root, run

yum install kernel-devel

Then re-run the installation script.
