Questions about Fedora Workstation Software Upgrades
I'm hesitating to upgrade my system from F24 to F25. F24 will be EOL this summer, so I should be upgrading in a few months. Now I have a few questions about the whole thing.
- How do you guys plan an upgrade?
- How do you backup your system so you can restore it in case it goes wrong?
- What are the usual casualties that cause the upgrade to break things?
- Is it possible to upgrade from F24 to F26? If so, would it be wise?
This upgrade is very critical to me, because I use Fedora Workstation on my laptop for work. I started using Fedora on my work 8 months ago, so this thing is kind of new to me.
Well, I have upgrade from Fedora 24 to 25 then with no problem using dnf system-upgrade steps on from the wiki, Always made home backup tar file of my home and place it on another disk, It may brake if you have external repositories, if you use Fedora repos plus rpmfusion.org repo you should be ok to upgrade to Fedora 25. You could upgrade to Fedora 26 but not sure rpmfusion.org repos are ready for 26 yeat, normally the run a bit behind. Good Luck
